Dead skin cells will usually build up over time, if your pores are left clogged. This results in skin being fatigued and dull and your complexion suffers. Using laser skin resurfacing methods will effectively remove dead skin cells. However, some of these procedures tend to be harsh on the skin, leaving the skin red and irritated for several hours and even days. For different alternatives, you can look for homemade methods of removing the outer layer of the skin to brighten your appearance. You will find some that we have put together below.

Microdermabrasion

For treatments using skin resurfacing, it is best to visit your dermatologist, especially for procedures like microdermabrasion. This reduces scarring, age spots and fine lines as well as unclog the pores. During the microdermabrasion procedure, fine crystals are administered using a vacuum suction. This removes dead skin and unclogs the pores. In the past, this method was only used in spas or a physician’s office. However, advanced technology has made it possible to do this at home using the Crystalift System, which only takes approximately five minutes to do. You can use it to treat the hands, chest and neck area where most signs of aging show.  A capsule filled with mineral crystals is inserted into the device. Using a wand, you apply the crystals to the skin, resulting in silky and beautiful skin after completion.

Scrub Away Dead Skin

Exfoliation of the skin can be done at home. This procedure is essential in removing dead cells and stimulating the growth of new cells while improving circulation. For exfoliation, you have three choices. You can use a chemical, enzymes or mechanical process. Mechanically exfoliating your skin means that you would use a scrub directly on the skin. Chemically exfoliating the skin means that you would use lotions or creams. Masks and cleansers are used to exfoliate the skin enzymatically. Use a circular, but gentle motion when using an exfoliant on your skin, after which you would pat the skin dry and then apply a moisturizer that is oil free. If you are working with a low budget and not able to afford an exfoliating product, use brown sugar instead. It will leave your skin looking bright and younger.

Put on your Mask

A mask is important to giving you better looking skin. Combine a teaspoon of sandalwood and turmeric powder. Mix with some water until you get a paste. Turmeric powder acts as an anti-inflammatory and is helpful for those with sensitive skin. Put the paste to the face and let it dry for a minimum of 45 minutes. Moisturize the skin after using natural oils. If your skin is oily, sunflower oil is best and sesame oil is better for dry skin while corn oil is ideal for normal skin.

Conclusion

Many of the resurfacing procedures done in a doctor’s office utilize chemicals. However, you can do it at home with natural products. It is always good to speak to a dermatologist if you have problem skin. Do you have any suggestions? Let us know by leaving your comments below.
