Can Retin-A be Used with Vitamin C?

Retin-A can be used with Vitamin C, but can also be used alone. Retin-A is a skin ointment or gel containing Vitamin A and is good to treat acne, wrinkles and oily skin. When it is regularly applied to the skin, it is helpful to unclogging pores and stimulating the growth of collagen. It also treats wrinkles and fine lines because of reduction of collagen. It does not dry the skin as some creams do. Know how to apply it properly to reduce fine lines.

Good Skin Care

For good skin care, Vitamin C and Retin-A are important. Ideally, use Vitamin C in the mornings and Retin-A during the night. Skin rejuvenation is possible with the combination. Depending on your skin type, you may want to test the products on your skin for irritation. Check with a dermatologist if you are unsure.

Skin Care Goals

Be sure that you are aware of your skin care goals before you begin any program. Generally, you will want to protect your skin throughout the day and repair it at night. You can also use Vitamin C topical cream with sunscreen for daytime use. Sunscreen helps to block UV rays and Vitamin C is a great antioxidant. Retin-A repairs skin cells, but works efficiently at night rather than daytime because of its instability to light. Again, professional advice is the best when making a decision as to which products you should use.

No Contradictions

There are no real conflicts related to the combination of Vitamin C and Retin-A or any other product for that matter. However, try to avoid using Retin-A with any other anti-aging products that you buy over the counter, especially those containing retinol. It can be harsh on the skin, causing irritation. It all depends on whether your skin can manage the combination of products or not.  If you already have dry skin, you don’t want to dry out your skin more. If you have sensitive skin, you also have to be careful. If you see any type of scaling or experience irritation, it is recommended that you either limit use or stop the use of the products.

Advice to Beginners

If it is your first time using any of these products, you should limit the use anyway. Apply the products about three times each week to begin until your skin gets used to it. Or you could begin the Retin-A use initially at night since you don’t have to deal with the sun. In the sun, the product might burn and damage sensitive skin and the sunlight may deactivate the product, making it of no effect. Even in the beginning, you can use Vitamin C day and night. Both products may provide excess exfoliation to sensitive and dry skin, making your skin lack luster and irritated.

Conclusion

So we can conclude that combined use of both products might work for one person and not for another. Skin type should be taken into consideration. Let us know your experience with this, if you have one. Leave your comments below.
